Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNO): The Economic Survey of India 2024-25 has listed Jammu and Kashmir among ten States and Union Territories in the country where Sustainable Development Goal Coordination Centres (SDGCCs) are operational.
A copy of the Economic Survey accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) states these SDGCCs play a key role in aligning local policies with global sustainability targets. “These centres are instrumental in driving SDG localisation efforts through integrated policymaking and fostering inter-linkages across the government departments,” the survey reveals.
“J&K’s SDGCCs along with implementing agencies are actively working to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and promote a convergence-based approach. The government is focusing on engaging multiple stakeholders, including local governance bodies, civil society organisations, and private sector partners, to ensure comprehensive development strategies,” it states.
With the transition to SDG Coordination and Acceleration Centres (SDGCAC’s), NITI Aayog, according to the survey report, aims to enhance J&K’s efforts by fostering innovative solutions and expanding engagement beyond government departments.
Meanwhile, J&K’s inclusion in the SDGCC initiative is expected to accelerate progress in areas such as poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, and rural development—(KNO)
